Nate Robinson says maybe to the NFL. Sure buddy

“If I can, I would love to play football a little bit,” Nate told Slam. “I’ve been doing a little bit of training.”
Nate initially attended the University of Washington on a football scholarship, after being the Seattle Times Class 3A State Player of the Year in football (senior year:1,200 yards rushing, 500 yards receiving, 21 touchdowns…ranked 17th best football athlete in the nation).

Then at Washington, Nate played cornerback for 1 year (during his freshman year) where Nate was most remembered for his interception against the #3 Washington State Cougars in the final minutes of the 2002 Apple Cup; allowing the University of Washington to kick a game tying field goal, and eventually win the game in triple OT.

“Why wouldn’t you want to have an NBA player that can play football try out? That’s a lot of publicity for your organization, Nate told SLAM. Then Nate mentioned his backup, backup plan… “If their lockout (the NFL) goes the whole season, then I’m gonna go play basketball overseas.”

No doubt Nate Robinson is one of the best athletes walking the planet right now but the preparation and maintenance to be in football shape and basketball shape is vastly different.

For example in football guys never stop working cause even the slightest dip in strength or speed will have them on the bench and a season away from getting cut and a year away from working at a car dealership in their hometown.  So they work out like complete beasts because it could all be gone soon.

In basketball you eat a shit load of candy and Cheetos while high all the time and make about 10 mil a year.

Here are some familiar football players who thought they were basketball players

Curtis Enis

Rashaan Salaam

Charles Rogers

He may not even get a workout on a football team.  Even if he made the team, his pay would be way less than what he would get for playing basketball in Europe.  Plus he could get killed playing football.  Darren Williams is getting 5 mil to play in Europe with an out clause if the lockout ends.  You know how many football players wish they made 5 million while playing in the actual NFL.
